Eagle-i: Ontology-driven Federated Search and Data Entry Tools for Discovering Biomedical Research Resources

چکیده
In this paper we present the eagle-‐i system architecture, which was designed for data entry and storage of semantically enabled and ontol-‐ ogy-‐driven data about biomedical research resources. We describe the content, the features and some of the applications currently leveraging eagle-‐i datasets.

Learning Resource Referencing, Search and Aggregation at the eLearning System Level
TELOS is a new eLearning system being built within the Canadian LORNET project. TELOS aims to provide an open operating system in which users can develop and use eLearning and knowledge management resources and environments within a service-oriented and ontology-driven framework. A special emphasis is put on the aggregation of resources through a graphic scenario editor and the referencing of t...
متن کاملA Framework for Discovering Associations from the Annotated Biological Web
During the last decade, biomedical researchers gained access to the entire human genome, reliable high-throughput biotechnologies, and affordable computational resources and network access. In combination, these new tools created a new model for biomedical research that no longer uses computational tools merely to monitor research, but instead exploits these tools to acquire knowledge and make ...
متن کاملResearch resources: curating the new eagle-i discovery system
Development of biocuration processes and guidelines for new data types or projects is a challenging task. Each project finds its way toward defining annotation standards and ensuring data consistency with varying degrees of planning and different tools to support and/or report on consistency. Further, this process may be data type specific even within the context of a single project. This artic...
متن کاملThe Biomedical Resource Ontology (BRO) to enable resource discovery in clinical and translational research
The biomedical research community relies on a diverse set of resources, both within their own institutions and at other research centers. In addition, an increasing number of shared electronic resources have been developed. Without effective means to locate and query these resources, it is challenging, if not impossible, for investigators to be aware of the myriad resources available, or to eff...
متن کاملWhat Four Million Mappings Can Tell You about Two Hundred Ontologies
The field of biomedicine has embraced the Semantic Web probably more than any other field. As a result, there is a large number of biomedical ontologies covering overlapping areas of the field. We have developed BioPortal— an open community-based repository of biomedical ontologies. We analyzed ontologies and terminologies in BioPortal and the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS), creating mo...
